wedged into the center of it. I last stayed here during one of those major sports
events that periodically paralyze the town, and it was the only decently located
Vegas lodging I could find at that time with a bed for under $80 a night (most of
the other “budget” hotels had rates in the $200s for that time period!). You'll likely
pay between $39 and $69, depending on whether it's a weekday or weekend and
the season. Other than the blankets on the beds—which could have been issued
by the army, they were that rough to the touch—the decor was quite spiffy, with
a multi-colored advertisement-cum-comforter over that rough blanket (it had pic-
tures of different sorts of Motel 6s printed on it) and newly painted white walls.
A sink sits at the back of the room, but the tub/shower and toilet are closed off
by a door. Other pluses: The mattress was a good one, local phone calls were free,
there's a small, uncrowded onsite pool, and the TV came with HBO. It wasn't the
most spacious or the quietest of digs—I could hear the TV next door and the folks
outside who brought a flatbed truck filled with beer cases for their tailgate party
in the motel's parking lot—but for the money . . . hey, I've done much worse.
