WAR
Yes, you read it correctly. This child's game is now being played in Las Vegas ca-
sinos. And it's as easy as you may remember it. The game is played with six decks.
Cards are ranked as they are in poker, but with aces always high. Players place
their bets and the dealer hands out one card to each player and one to himself. If
the player's card is higher than the dealer's, he gets even money. If the dealer's card
is higher the player loses. If there's a tie the player can either surrender and give
up half of his bet, or go to war. In the case of the latter, he must raise his bet by
an equal amount to his initial wager. The dealer will then burn three cards and
deal one to the player and one to himself. High card wins. This is another card
game with a high house advantage. Be advised that the house advantage climbs
even higher if you surrender, so this is one place where going to war is always the
better option.
