Getting There & Away
If you can't get a direct bus to where you want to go in Jordan, there's a good chance that
you can find a connection in Ma'an.
The station for buses, minibuses and service taxis is a five-minute walk southeast of the
centre. Departures from Ma'an start to peter out around 2pm and stop completely around
5pm.
There are regular minibuses (JD2.750, three hours) and less frequent service taxis (JD6,
three hours) to/from Amman's south bus station (Wahadat). To Aqaba, minibuses
(JD2.200, 80 minutes) and service taxis (JD2.500) are also frequent. For Wadi Rum, take
an Aqaba-bound minibus to the junction at Ar-Rashidiyya (JD1.700) then take a minibus
or hitch from here. For Petra, minibuses to Wadi Musa (JD1.200, 45 minutes) leave fairly
frequently when full and stop briefly at the university en route. To Karak, there are occa-
sional service taxis (JD2, two hours) and three minibuses a day, via Tafila (JD1.300).
A chartered taxi to Petra/Wadi Musa costs around JD15, and JD30 to Karak or Aqaba.
