In-Depth Information
There's an excellent view across Wadi Musa and surrounding hills from many of the
rooms and from the roof terrace. The same friendly family run the budget option next
door and there's an excellent Turkish bath opposite.

has an attractive, marble-floored lobby and elegant furniture. The rooms are not quite so
appealing, but the satellite TV will take your mind off the lime-green walls.

HOTEL
( /fax 2156440; s/d/tr JD15/20/25) The delightful staff members make this tired hotel
worth considering. A long overdue makeover is apparently on the cards but, in the current
slump in tourism, it's unlikely to happen soon. Rooms vary considerably, but all have
private bathrooms and are at least quiet.
THE SPRING OF MOSES
Then Moses raised his arm and struck the rock twice with his staff. Water gushed out, and the community and their
livestock drank.
Numbers 20:11
'Ain Musa (Spring of Moses) is one of two possible locations in Jordan for the site where Moses supposedly struck
the rock with his staff and water gushed forth to the thirsty Israelites (the other possible site is near Mt Nebo). The
simple site is marked by a modern three-domed building occasionally visited by local pilgrims. The site is located
near the Golden Tulip Hotel, alongside the King's Highway at the main junction into Wadi Musa from the north.
UPPER WADI MUSA
The following luxury hotels are located at the top end of town, on the scenic road between
the town centre and Tayyibeh, a 10- to 15-minute drive from the Petra visitor centre.
Perched at around 1400m above sea level, they offer fine views over the Rift Valley and
most have beautiful terraces for a sunset drink. Unfortunately, lovely though the hotels
are, they have somewhat blighted the once-secluded view from inside Petra.
