WADI MUSA TOWN CENTRE
The following hotels are most convenient for the bus station and shops. It's just about pos-
sible to walk downhill to Petra from here but if you want to save your energy for Petra it-
self, then enquire about free transport to and from the gate (usually offered by hotels once
a day in each direction).

( 2157070; www.amrapalace.com ; s/d/tr JD44/ 72/84; ) This lovely hotel
lives up to its name with magnificent lobby, marble pillars, giant brass coffeepots and
Damascene-style furniture. The brothers who have run this establishment for many years
take a personal interest in the details and they have a fine sense of interior design. Each
room has spotless linen that's changed every day (there's a laundry on site), wooden head-
boards, upholstered furniture and satellite TV. Most rooms have views across the valley.
Services include heated pool, Jacuzzi, summer terrace and excellent Turkish bath (JD13
per person). There's also a fun cave-style internet cafe with unlimited internet access and
wi-fi availability for JD3 per hour. With pretty gardens of roses and jasmine, this is un-
doubtedly one of the best hotels in Wadi Musa.

Cleopetra Hotel$

( 2157090; www.cleopetrahotel.com ; s/d/tr JD20/ 30/40; ) This has to be one of the
friendliest budget hotels in town. The whole hotel has recently undergone a complete re-
furbishment and now all rooms are bright and fresh and have private bathrooms with hot
water. There's a communal sitting area in the lobby which is ideal for meeting fellow trav-
ellers and, if the mood takes you, you can still sleep on the roof for JD6 (JD7 with break-
fast). Wi-fi is available for JD2. Two further improvements on the cards are air condition-
ing and double-glazing to reduce the street noise. The hotel can organise overnight 4WD
trips to Wadi Rum (JD40 per person for a minimum of three) that travellers have recom-
mended.

HOTEL

comfortable rooms of this new addition to the Al-Anbat estate (the family now own three
hotels in the area) will start to find its feet once a few more guests have discovered it.
