no scrambling is involved, be aware that the trail involves a relentless one-hour descent at
the beginning of the hike that gives toes, calves and knees a good bruising. It's not feas-
ible to complete the walk in both directions in a day unless you are super fit or plainly
masochistic. Either stay the night at Feynan Ecolodge, at the bottom of the walk, or ar-
range with the RSCN office for a car (JD46) to bring you back to Dana either via Tafila

MODERATE TRAILS
Rummana Mountain Trail
(2.5km, 1-2hr, self-guided; 15 Mar-31 Oct) From Rummana Campground to the
nearby Rummana (Pomegranate) Peak, this trail gives great views over Wadi Araba. One
Rummmana receptionist, Mahmoun, described the trail as a good metaphor for life: lots of
ups and downs but greatly rewarding when you reach your goal.

Nawatef Trail
(2.5km, 2½hr, guide required; year-round) This great short walk, from Al-Barra to the
luscious springs and Nabataean ruins of Nawatef, involves a steep uphill walk back to
Dana.

White Dome Trail
(8km, 3hr, guide required; 15 Mar- 31 Oct) Taking you past dramatic wadi escarp-
ments surrounding Rummana Campground, through the beautiful terraced gardens of
Dana village, this trail leads through waist-high vegetation to Dana Guesthouse.

Fida Canyon Trail
(2.5km, 2hr, guide required; year-round) This short but strenuous hike leads from Al-
Barra to Shaq al-Reesh and is not for the faint-hearted.

Hammam Al-Dathnah Trail
(17km, 9hr, guide required; year-round) A spectacular but highly taxing trail, it leads
from Al-Nawatef, crossing Hamra Valley and Palm Tree Valley to Feynan Ecolodge.
