Viking Hotel Built in the early 1990s and set behind a modern, angular
facade that might remind you of a somewhat foreboding office building, this
middle-bracket hotel has rooms that are comfortable, cozy, and even a tad plush.
Accommodations are outfitted in monochromatic tones of blue, green, or soft
yellow, each with hardwood floors, a decor that's vaguely inspired by the Victo-
rian age of England, and each with a meticulously tiled bathroom that's more
up-to-date and appealing than that of any other hotel in its price category in
Trondheim. All have showers but no bathtubs. Of its 35 units, only a dozen are
specifically configured as doubles, the rest being single rooms favored by Euro-
pean business travelers during corporate excursions to Trondheim. Overall, it's
an excellent and reasonably priced choice that's conveniently located in the
town's commercial core. Its unpretentious tavern-style restaurant (Odin's) serves
excellent food, which is separately recommended in “Where to Dine,” below.

located, English-inspired hotel has a lobby that doubles as a pub and, to further
push the Anglophile theme, a collection of leather-upholstered Chesterfield

building, but in 1992, it was transformed into the charming, seven-story hotel
you see today. Only breakfast is served, but in winter a light evening meal is
included, buffet-style, as part of the price. Bedrooms are medium-size, high-
ceilinged, and very pleasant, with old-fashioned, full-grained wooden furniture.
All rooms come with modern-looking tile-covered bathrooms, each with a
shower but no tub.
