Norgesparken Tusenfryd This is the largest amusement park in Nor-
way, conceived as a smaller version of Copenhagen's Tivoli. It includes a num-
ber of simple restaurants, a roller coaster with a loop and corkscrew, an
amphitheater with all-day entertainment by performers such as musicians and
clowns, and many games of skill or chance. In the summer there is also a water
park. The park is 19km (12 miles) south of the Central Station.

Young Artists Association, was once
the home of the dreaded executioner.
His fee depended on the type of exe-
cution performed.

This steel-and-glass complex is a
rebuilt district of shops and restau-
rants that was developed from Oslo's
old shipbuilding grounds. It has a fine
view of Akershus Castle.
Head east along Rådhusplassen, looking to
your left at the:
2 Rådhuset
The Oslo City Hall, built in 1950, is
decorated with artwork by Norwegian
artists.
Climb the steps at the east end of the
square and a small hill to see the:
3 Statue of Franklin D.
Roosevelt
Eleanor Roosevelt flew to Oslo to ded-
icate this statue.
This area is the heart of the 17th-century
Renaissance city. Take Rådhusgata east to

Artists Association is Kafé
Celsius, Rådhusgatan 19
( & 22-42-45-39 ), Oslo's oldest resi-
dential house. Today it's a charming
arts-oriented cafe that serves tasty food.
Sandwich prices start at 108NOK ($15).
You can also order pasta salads and
such dishes as ratatouille or tortellini.
On cold days there's a fire in the fire-
place. It's open Monday to Saturday
11:30am to midnight, Sunday 11:30am
to 8pm.
