Database Reference
In-Depth Information
The steps move from the creation of the query used in the statistics data containers. After the
queries are built, the layout will be formatted for the first statistics report. After the first report
page is complete, this report will be copied and customized for three additional pages and
prompting will be added to allow users to pick which statistics report page will be run.

We will be using the
Sales
namespace inside the

folder. While there is a
Promotion
namespace, the underlying data model holds the
numbers for promotions only. To compare regular sales and promotional sales, we need
to use the
Sales
namespace.
Step 2: Create the Query
While we will be doing several statistics reports, we want to use one query so that the prompt-
ing will be consistent through all the queries. This query will look at several dimensions, but
the query will have several data items based on the Promotions dimension to provide different
perspectives.
1.
In the
Explorer Bar
, move over the
Query Explorer
tab and select the
Queries
folder.
2.
In the work area, click
Query1
to select it.
3.
In the
Properties
pane, change the
Name
property to
Statistics_query
.
4.
In the work area, double-click
Statistics_query
to open the query definition.
5.
From the
Source
tab of the
Insertable Objects
pane, drag
Gross Profit
from the
Sales
fact
measures dimension into the
Data Items
pane of the work area.
