This report can be rendered only in HTML.
The report will utilize the Tab Active Report control to achieve the desired report interac-
tivity, and the report data containers will be the same ones used in Chapter 5.
The three quick steps in this example will demonstrate how report development is much faster
and easier with the new toolbox objects. A significant amount of effort is reduced over the tech-
nique that had to be used in the previous version to achieve the desired report user experience.
Step 1: Start the Report
1.
Launch
Report Studio
and select the
GO Data Warehouse (query)
package.
2.
Click on the
Create new
option.
3.
Select the
Active Report
template and click
OK
.
We will be using the
Inventory (query)
namespace inside the
Sales and Marketing (query)
.
Step 2: Set Up Tab Control
After the active report template has been selected, the Toolbox tab area of the Insertable Objects
pane will contain additional controls specific to active reports. These new controls will signifi-
cantly reduce the amount of time it takes to develop an interactive report.

pane, drag and drop a

object into the design area of the report.

Double-click

Chart
.

This initial control is similar in function to the conditional blocks described earlier, but is
enhanced for use in active reports. As you worked in the toolbox tab, you likely noticed that a
number of other new controls can enhance the functionality and appearance of active reports.
