Summary
In this chapter, you had an opportunity to create reports that were designed to provide some
additional examples that you could use in your everyday report development.
The first example helps you design reports in IBM Cognos Report Studio that have the
capability to render data in different presentations and provide the “look and feel” of tabbing
through the report. As you have probably noticed, the only limitation to our suggested solution is
that we are limited to HTML output because the reporting environment is web-based and the only
way we can achieve the desired functionality is to render the report as a web page.
The second example helps to ease concerns by report developers who are overwhelmed by
the users' requests to present data in such a way that it is not captured in the reporting databases.
Some techniques that you may want to integrate into other reports include the following:
Placing block or table objects to achieve the desired report design with modification of
various object properties, such as Horizontal Alignment, Size & Overflow, Floating,
Border, and Background Colors
Adding of HTML items to enhance report presentation
Using a variety of copy-and-paste options to reuse queries and report objects
Using a one-click page break setup to speed report development
