In-Depth Information
NOTE Because you are running a full comparison in the database, this query will run a long
time. It will generate a large PDF of over 800 megabytes with more than 2,000 report pages.

By being able to compare the results of two queries, you can see that there are still some
differences between the two queries. This means that you will need to spend some time analyzing
the differences and see whether the query needs to change or whether the legacy query returned
invalid results that you just uncovered.
Summary
In this chapter, you had an opportunity to create queries that were designed to override the rela-
tionships defined in the data model.
The first example looks at ensuring that all the products are listed for each warehouse when
the data modeler has created relationships that will display products only if they exist in the
warehouse.
The second example helps ease concerns by report consumers who want to see whether a
report created with the new data model will work exactly the same as the query used in the legacy
system.
Some techniques that you may want to integrate into other reports include the following:
Creating fixed-value filters and converting the filters to prompt report consumers after
testing is complete
