Phuket & the Andaman
Coast
The Andaman Coast is the ultimate land of superlatives: the tall est karst formations,
the soft est sands, the blu est water - the list goes on.
Along the coast, boats from Khao Lak idle between the Similan and Surin Islands,
dropping scuba buffs deep down into the greatest dive sites around. Further south,
Phuket, the biggest island, is the region's hedonistic launching pad, offering a
glimpse of what's to come.
The Andaman's signature pinnacles of jagged jungle-clad karst come to a stunning
climax in Krabi. Ko Phi-Phi Don's unimaginable beauty exceeds even the highest ex-
pectations. And at Railay, rock-climbers take in the scenery as they dangle like orna-
ments on a giant Christmas tree.
The catch is that the destination is no secret and the beaches are crowded with
backpackers, package tourists and everyone else in between.
