1 NAM TOK HIN LAT
Samui isn't all white-sand beaches and clear seas. There are still patches of in-
terior jungle where waterfalls cascade and pool through rugged terrain. Nam Tok
Hin Lat ( Click here ) is accessible by a pleasant walking trail. It takes about an
hour from the road to reach the waterfall and there's a refreshing swimming hole
to cool you down.
2 BO PHUT
The northern beach of Bo Phut ( Click here ) and its atmospheric Fisherman's
Village (so named because of the village's traditional profession) has to be one
of the most romantic places on Samui. There are plenty of cosy restaurants (
Click here ) for candlelit dinners and evening sunset drinks. Despite tourism,
there are still many locals living in the village and many are extended families
that have lived in the village for generations. Many of the elderly residents refuse
to have loud noises from pubs and bars so it also stays quiet and peaceful
around here. The village is very interesting and charming in the way that the res-
idents have integrated modern tourism with a traditional lifestyle.
3 HUA THANON
Hua Thanon ( Click here ) still retains much of its local multicultural appeal:
Chinese, Muslim and Buddhist communities live together in this fishing village.
