5 MAE SALONG
Mae Salong (

) is a small town nestled in the hills near the border with
Burma. It was settled by the Chinese Nationalist army after they were defeated
by the communists. Originally relying on opium production to fund the settled
army, Mae Salong is now a major tea producer and is also swathed in cherry
blossom trees.
