Central House of Artists
(New Tretyakov Gallery) The ground floor of Moscow's
Modern Art Museum is a must-see for anyone interested in Russia's current art scene—
either in viewing or in buying a sample. The large hall serves as a showcase for new
painters, sculptors, and craftspeople, whose works are for sale at the dozens of stalls that
crowd the space. You can also find unusual gifts and souvenirs here such as birch-wood
candlesticks or irreverent Constructivist tea sets.

Biblio-Globus
You'll find this rich and varied Russian book emporium just beneath
the computer center of the successor to the KGB. Its multilevel, packed selection includes
books in English, children's picture books, and antique books, and can suck you in for
