this surface is shown as an inset. This surface can be considered as composed of (111)
terraces separated by (110) monoatomic steps. The voltammogram shows three clearly
differentiated regions: (i) a sharp peak at 0.12 V, corresponding to hydrogen adsorp-
tion on steps; (ii) a flat region between 0.06 and 0.35 V (overlapping with the peak at
0.12 V), corresponding to hydrogen adsorption on terrace sites; and (iii) a broad wave
between 0.4 and 0.6 V, corresponding to anion adsorption on terrace sites. Figure 7.6
