Travel Reference
In-Depth Information
Rough Guide. These guides are geared toward budget travelers, similar to Lonely Planet,
but have a little more cultural and historical information. The reviews tend to be accurate and
honest (i.e., they don't sugarcoat their opinions).
DK Eyewitness Guides. The main strengths for the Eyewitness Travel Guides are their top-
quality color photography, illustrations, and maps. Plus, the information is brief and easy to
read. I find these great for daydreaming about traveling and for planning. I'm not sure if I
would bring it along on a trip, but I would read through these at the bookstore as I was re-
searching my trip.
Fodor's and Frommer's . Both these guides offer good information but they tend be to writ-
ten for a more middle-aged audience.
