Companion Planting
Certain vegetables have a positive effect on each other, and planting
them close together can help you maximize the benefit. On the other
hand, beware of plants that negatively affect each other; be sure to
plant these in different parts of your garden.
Planting a certain group of vegetables with another can create a
habitat for beneficial insects, which will help control the more harm-
ful ones. Some vegetable scents will mask or hide a certain veget-
able so pests will not be able to find it. Another plant may produce
an odor that will repel certain pests or diseases. Certain plants are
not affected by a certain pest or disease but will draw it away from a
plant that is.
