Chapter 14
Troubleshooting Your
Smoothie Garden
There are so many different problems that can occur in the
vegetable garden. You have control over some, such as soil
conditions or plant damage. Others, such as the weather or the
amount of sunlight your garden gets, are often out of your con-
trol. You must become a plant detective to identify the problem
and find a solution. This chapter gives you advice and tips on
how to identify and treat common problems in your smoothie
vegetable garden.
Identify the Problem
Some problems may affect your entire garden while others may affect
only one type or one variety of vegetable. Plants are as different as
people; some are more susceptible to problems than others. Identify-
ing the problem can take some effort; often, the symptoms of a dis-
ease or a pest infestation are similar to those of an undernourished or
underwatered plant.
