WEEDING

WATERING
Once sprouted, green onions need about 1 inch of water per

CARE Green onions are pretty low maintenance. Make sure the soil is
fed regularly with compost tea and kept free of weeds. For best
results, rotate them regularly around the garden each year.
FERTILIZING Put in plenty of compost when first planting, and feed regularly
with compost tea or other natural fertilizers.
PESTS AND
DISEASES
Discourage aphids and caterpillars with natural sprays.
WHEN TO
HARVEST
Any time after the onions reach 6 inches or more in height.
HOW TO
HARVEST
With a sharp knife, cut off the onion about 1 inch above the root;
the onion will resprout.
STORAGE
Green onions can be stored for several days in a plastic bag with
a damp paper towel, but they'll taste best in your smoothie if you
use them immediately upon harvesting.
