Did You Have Too Many or Too Few
Vegetables?
Did you and your family eat what you grew? Did you plant too much
or too little of any vegetables? Were you surprised about what grew
really well or did poorly? Did the family like something you tried as
an experiment? Jot down notes so you remember what you want to
plant next season.
Be careful not to mistake a bumper crop for overplanting. The per-
fect soil conditions and the perfect amount of water, sunlight, and
heat can give you an overabundance of a certain vegetable. If you
planted four cucumber plants and had too many for your use, think
about scaling down to three plants. If you still have too many
cucumbers the second season, perhaps you have the perfect garden
for cucumbers! You can then scale back a bit more. However,
remember that each year may bring different challenges, so plant at
least two of everything to ensure you will have some veggies to eat.
