Plastic tunnel
One concern with the tunnels is that they can become too warm
inside during the hot summer months. Too much heat can damage
your plants just as much as too much cold, so it is important to have
a way to ventilate your structure. You do not want your tunnel to get
too much above 90ºF for any length of time without allowing cool air
in and excess hot air out. It is important to have a thermometer
inside the tunnel at all times to monitor the temperature.
Construct Your Own Plastic Tunnel
1.
Decide the length and width you want your tunnel to be. Most tunnels
are about 2-3 feet wide. It is best to space your hoops 3-5 feet apart so
your structure is sturdy.
2.
Choose a lightweight material if you are planning to move your tunnel.
Try a plastic water pipe- ⁄ "- ⁄ " in diameter works well for the hoops.

The pipes can be purchased in various lengths and bend easily. Many
seed catalogs have cloche pipe, which you can also use to construct your
tunnel.
