INEXPENSIVE
Inexpensive rooms in Leavenworth are also available at The Edel House (see
“Where to Dine,” below).
Hotel Pension Anna Though the guest rooms in the Pension Anna's
main building are attractively appointed with pine furniture, including a four-
poster bed in the honeymoon suite, the annex building contains the inn's two
most outstanding rooms. This annex is a renovated church built in 1913 (and
later moved to this site), and the Old Chapel Suite is a grand space that includes
part of the old choir loft (now a sleeping loft) and the old baptismal font. Ceil-
ings 20 feet high give the room an expansive feel, and in the bedroom you'll find
an ornately carved headboard framed by draperies that reach to the ceiling.
Though considerably smaller, the Parish Nook Room has an ornate king-size
bed, marble-top bedside stands, and the original arched windows. Only slightly
more expensive than a regular room, the Parish Nook is the inn's best deal.

CAMPGROUNDS
Tumwater (84 campsites) is the biggest campground in the Leavenworth area,
yet is always full on summer weekends. Up Icicle Road on the west side of Leav-
enworth, there are seven campgrounds.
The Lake Wenatchee area is one of the most popular summer camping desti-
nations in the state and there are lots of choices in the area. If you want creature
comforts such as hot showers stay at Lake Wenatchee State Park (197 camp-
sites), which is at the south end of the lake. This campground has a sandy beach
and a great view up the lake. Farther up the south shore of the lake, the Forest
Service's Glacier View Campground (23 campsites) provides a similar lakeside
atmosphere with walk-in campsites. Right outside the entrance to the state park,
you'll find the Nason Creek Campground (73 campsites), which has some nice
sites right on this large creek. Northwest of Lake Wenatchee, there are several
campgrounds along both the White River and the Little Wenatchee River.
