Dungeness Bay Motel Despite the name, this is more a collection of cot-
tages than a motel in the traditional sense of the word. Set on a bluff overlook-
ing the Strait of Juan de Fuca and located across the street from the waters of
Dungeness Bay, this place boasts great views and economical accommodations.
Some units actually have views of both the water and the Olympic Mountains.
The large San Juan Suite has a fireplace and is our favorite here. The summer
sunsets here simply cannot be beat.

Juan de Fuca Cottages Located across the street from the water and sur-
rounded by wide green lawns, these well-tended cottages have excellent views.
While most face the water, the best views are actually from the one cottage that
faces the Olympic Mountains to the south. This cabin has skylights and a long
wall of windows. Other cottages also have skylights and all have whirlpool tubs
and kitchenettes. The cottages also have their own little private beach. Although
prices seem high for what you get, these cottages can all sleep at least four people.

Sunset Marine Resort Located on the east shore of Sequim Bay, this
collection of waterfront cabins is a secluded little retro hideaway. It's decorated
in shabby-chic style by the owners, who also operate a little shabby-chic shop in
downtown Sequim. Cabins include a renovated ranger station and a boathouse
that sits on pilings over the water. Other cabins date from the 1930s and 1940s.
Five of the cabins have full kitchens. You can spend your day paddling around
the bay or digging littleneck clams from in front of the cabins. Because these
cabins are so distinctive and relatively economical, they tend to book up months
in advance.
