In-Depth Information
Arrival inPinhão: The town has a train station along the main road, and a boat land-
ing down below on the river. The two residencial s are across the street from the station,
and the Vintage House Hotel is just upriver, next to the bridge. If you're arriving by boat,
disembark to the right for the Vintage House; to reach the residencial s or the station, leave
the boat to the left, then loop up and to the right, around the big concrete wine-storage
vats.
Tours: Vintage House Hotel organizes river trips on traditional rabelo boats for guests
and non-guests (€10-20 for 1- to 2-hour trips, daily April-Oct at 10:30 and 14:30, sched-
ule depends on demand and availability, call to reserve, tel. 254-730-230).
Sleeping in Pinhão
Your in-town options are a plush splurge hotel or two humble residencial s. The residen-
cial s are next door to each other, across from the train station. Both operate fine restaur-
ants, and both have riverview rooms that don't cost extra but come with some street noise;
neither has owners who speak English, but each sometimes has an English-speaking son
available.
