RestauranteBurgo, just inside the main gate on the lower road, is a lively place with
good seating inside and out on the cobbled street (€10-15 meat and fish dishes, open long
hours daily, good ice cream, Rua Josefa d'Óbidos 11).
Restaurante/Pizzaria Muralhas serves traditional Portuguese and Italian cuisine.
Dine indoors or on the back patio (€6-8 pizzas, €13-16 meat and fish dishes, Thu-Tue
12:00-15:00 & 19:00-22:30, closed Wed, Rua Dom João de Ornelas 6, tel. 262-958-550).

Daily specials start at €11 (€7 meat and fish plates, Mon-Sat 8:00-24:00, closed Sun, next

Troca-Tintos is a good spot for a glass of wine and light meal of petiscos (Portuguese
tapas) in an intimate atmosphere. The only downside is that smoking is allowed. Sit at one
of the outdoor tables if possible (€4-14, Mon-Sat 18:00 until late, closed Sun, Rua Dom
João de Ornelas, next to Hotel Real, tel. 966-928-689). They have fado every Monday,
20:30-23:30, €4 cover, €3 with food.
Picnics: Pick up your picnic at the small grocery store just inside the main gate (on the
lower brick road), the larger grocery in the center on Rua Direita, or the tiny market just
outside the town wall.
Óbidos Connections
From Óbidos to: Nazaré (12 buses/day, 40-60 minutes, some direct, most transfer in
Caldas da Rainha), Lisbon (8 buses/day, 1.25 hours; 3 trains/day, 2.25-3 hours, transfer in
Cacém or Mira Sintra-Melecas), Alcobaça (3 buses/day, 1.5 hours). Far fewer buses run
on weekends, be sure to check schedules at the TI.
ByCartoLisbon: From Óbidos, the tollway zips you directly into Lisbon in about an
hour (€6).
