Handy Services: An agency called Salema Property and Services posts bus and train
schedules; offers three-day to one-week condo rentals in Salema; arranges excur-
sions; offers Internet access, Wi-Fi, and broadband phone service; and usually has
free tourist maps of Lagos and other parts of the Algarve. You can also rent a car
(high season: around €110/3 days; low season: around €80/3 days), mopeds, and
mountain bikes (€10/day), and even get your laundry done (€3.50/wash-and-dry; usu-
ally open Mon-Fri 9:00-13:00 & 15:00-18:00, Sat 9:00-13:00, closed Sun, in tiny
strip mall across from Hotel Residencial Salema, tel. 282-695-855, fax 282-695-920,

Taxi: Your hotel can arrange a taxi, or call Jose direct. Jose and his wife Isabel (a tour
guide who speaks fluent English) have two cars and are happy to answer your ques-
tions about the area. It's €25-30 to the Lagos bus station or €60 for a quick 1.25-hour
scenic tour of Cape Sagres/Cape St. Vincent, with short stops and commentary (can
also wait in Sagres for €10/hour). This can be a great value for two couples or a
family. You could even taxi to Lisbon, Évora, or Sevilla (€350 and up). You may
