Small-toothed sportive lemur
WOOLLYLEMURS (genus Avahi ) Woolly lemurs also adopt a vertical posture and
are similar in size to sportive lemurs, but have round, owl-like faces and conspicu-
ous white thighs. They often sleep in the tangled branches of trees. Many park guides
use woolly lemur' and avahi' interchangeably as the common name. One recently de-
scribed species isnamed after British comic actor JohnCleese: Cleese'swoolly lemur
( Avahi cleesei) is currently known only from Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park.
