In-Depth Information
How large you need to render something depends on what you're going to use it for: screen or
print. Don't expect a rendering the size of a 3ʺ × 5ʺ (75 mm × 150 mm) postcard to work for a
3ʹ × 5ʹ (900 mm × 1,500 mm) banner.
So what resolution is big enough? Well, it's probably better to render things a bit larger,
which will give you some flexibility if you need to increase the size of your image later.
Using Quality and Output Settings
Revit provides five preset Quality settings: Draft, Low, Medium, High, and Best. Figure 11.61
illustrates the range between the Draft setting and the Best setting. These settings will control
not only the quality of the output but also the time it takes to render. We recommend you
perform a quicker draft render to get a feel for your scene setup before doing a rendering of
higher quality. This will reduce the time you spend waiting for the rendering to complete in
order to make iterative adjustments.
