Framework: A framework silicate structure is three-dimensional. Each oxygen atom
of the tetrahedral is shared with another tetrahedral, as illustrated in Figure 6-9.
An example of a mineral with framework silicate structure is quartz.

Ring: When tetrahedrals share two oxygen atoms in groups of three, four, five, or
six, they may be arranged in a circle or ring structure as illustrated in Figure 6-10.
The mineral kaolinite has ring structure.
