Geology Reference
In-Depth Information
If you've spent any time on the surface of the earth (which, of course, you have), you
know that it's not flat and featureless. What creates the hills, valleys, and slopes that
cover the earth's surface? The powerful geologic forces of gravity, water, wind, ice, and
waves are largely responsible for the surface features you see.
In this part I describe each of the natural forces that sculpt, smooth, and shape earth's
landscapes. Each chapter delves into a particular force and takes you on a tour of the
features it creates as rocks and sediment are moved from one location to the next on
earth's surface.
