In-Depth Information
Whilst Class A of Part 1 concerns itself with general extensions, Class B is concerned
with dwelling enlargements consisting of addition or alteration to a dwelling's roof.
The following is not permitted under Class B:
(1) Any alteration resulting in the increased height of the existing roof.
(2) Any new work which extends beyond the plane of any roof slope which fronts a high-
way.
(3) Any alteration which increases the cubic content of a terraced house by more than 40
m 3 or any other house by more than 50 m 3 . If, however, other parts of the building are be-
ing extended as well as the roof, then rules 4 and 5 also apply, taking into account the
whole volume of the dwelling.
