Expert Recommendation. Based on people communication
records, we can recommend a person with certain expertise
and within a requestor's social network.
CodeBook, a project from Microsoft Research, builds a social
network-oriented platform over code [211]. The CodeBook social
network maintains a directed graph connecting programmers to reus-
able work artifacts such as work item, source code, files, and test results.
Within the directed graph, a regular language reachability algorithm is
devised such that Codebook can answer queries involving transitive
connections.
Process Mining and Social Software in Workflow
Management
Process mining [212], originally proposed by Professor Wil M. P. van
der Aalst, is a technique combining business process management
(BPM) and knowledge discovery. Its major aim is to extract knowledge
from event logs recorded by an enterprise information system. The
knowledge to extract includes the underlying process structure that
generates the events, and the data and social structures associated with
it. More recently, Professor Aalst has proposed a framework named
TomTom4BPM [213,214] that adopts process mining technique for
various purposes, such as comparing the actual process execution with
premodeled ones and dynamically navigating during process excep-
tions. There are some studies related to process mining, such as deriving
