(g) Verification at the packaging stage
Article 25(7) of Commission Regulation (EC) No 607/2009 provides that in
the case where annual verification is carried out at the packaging stage of the
product in the territory of a Member State which is not the Member State
where the production took place, Art 84 of Commission Regulation (EC) No
555/2008

applies.

(h) Application of Article 25 of Commission Regulation (EC) No 607/2009
Article 25(7) of Commission Regulation (EC) No 607/2009 provides that Art
25(1)-(7) applies to wines bearing a designation of origin or a GI, whose
designation of origin or GI concerned meet the requirements as referred to in
Art 38(5) of the Wine Regulation.

(i) Checks on products originating in third countries
Article 27 of Commission Regulation (EC) No 607/2009 provides that if a
third country's wines benefit from the protection of a PDO or GI, the third
country concerned shall send the Commission, at its request, information on
the competent authorities referred to in Art 48(2) of the Wine Regulation and
on the aspects covered by the check, as well as proof that the wine in question
fulfils the conditions of the relevant designation of origin or GI.

1. Procedure - general rules

Article 50 of the Wine Regulation provides that it may be decided, in
accordance with the procedure referred to in Art 113(2), at the initiative of the
Commission or at a duly substantiated request of a Member State, of a third
country or of a natural or legal person having a legitimate interest, to cancel the
protection of a designation of origin or a GI if compliance with the corres-
ponding product specification is no longer ensured. Article 50 provides that
Arts 38 to 41 (covering the national procedure and scrutiny by the Commis-
sion) shall apply
