In the absence of agreement between the objectors and Thailand the Commis-
sion resolved the question in Thailand's favour.
3. Form and content of the Register

Article 11(3) provides that the Commission may adopt implementing acts
laying down detailed rules on the form and content of the register. Those
implementing acts shall be adopted in accordance with the examination pro-
cedure referred to in Art 57(2).
4. List of international agreements

Recital (27) informs in order to facilitate the provision to the public of
information about the names protected under international agreements, includ-
ing those concerning the protection of designations of origin and GIs, with its
trade partners and in particular to ensure protection and control of the use to
which those names are put, the names may be entered in the register of PDOs
and PGIs. Unless specifically identified as designations of origin in such
international agreements, Recital (27) proposes that the names should be
entered in the register as PGIs.

Article 11(4) provides that the Commission shall make public and regularly
update the list of the international agreements referred to in Art 11(2) as well as
the list of GIs protected under those agreements.
J. NAMES, SYMBOLS AND INDICATIONS

Recital (28) to the Regulation recommends that in view of their specific nature,
special provisions concerning labelling should be adopted in respect of PDOs
and PGIs that require producers to use the appropriate Union symbols or
indications on packaging. In the case of Union names, the use of such symbols
or indications should be made obligatory in order to make this category of
products, and the guarantees attached to them, better known to consumers and
in order to permit easier identification of these products on the market, thereby
facilitating checks. Taking into account the requirements of the WTO, the use
of such symbols or indications should be made voluntary for third country GIs
and designations of origin.
