12.6 Concluding remarks
In this chapter we considered the problem of optimizing a transceiver under the
zero-forcing constraint. The solution to the problem is such that the channel H is
effectively diagonalized, and the ZF-MMSE solution for the diagonal channel Σ h
is implemented implicitly. In the next chapter we will consider the optimization
of transceivers without the zero-forcing constraint. The application of these
optimization results for the case of zero-padded and cyclic-prefixed systems will
be considered in later chapters.
