Tennessee Red Quail
Tennessee Red Quail are a slightly larger and a bit more colorful version of Bobwhite.
Their habits and behaviors are very similar to Bobwhite.
Chukar partridge
Chukar
Chukars are a beautiful gray with distinct markings. They do well in dry areas but not in
moist climates. Having grown up with them in the arid West I have tried several times
to raise them here in Iowa with limited success. They simply do not like moist climates
and never seem to thrive where it is damp. They are not the friendliest of the game birds,
but they are very attractive.
Grey Partridge (Hungarian Partridge)
In the wild, Grey Partridge like their space and raisers find them to be uncomfortable
around humans and evasive. They are game birds that do not do as well on wire as they
do when they are on the ground in a well-built flight pen. In the wild, they tend to live
near the edges of fields where they nest and feed on seeds and, as young, on insects.
