A first-time meat chicken raiser planning to process the meat should not rely spe-
cifically on a time frame for butchering. It is far better to consider the size of the bird
when deciding whether or not to butcher. If in doubt, test-butcher one particular bird to
discern the relative ease or difficulty of the process and to determine if the weight and
shape of the carcass meet your criteria.
