scheme can be dynamically modified and manipulated in various phases of design
in a social environment.
- Virtual visualization environment for crowdsourcing parametric design
In the examples illustrated, we demonstrate how parameters and sliders in a
parametric system can be used to dynamically modify form in real-time
(Fig. 14.8 ) within a shared social environment for design, in this case, similar
virtual visualization environment could also be supported in a web-based social
medium for design (Fig. 14.9 ).
- Modification of the parametric in pre-design phase
In the pre-design phase of crowd-sourcing design the emphasis is placed upon
the modeling of performance conditions within the methodological framework
and format. In the pre-design phase consideration of crowd information (such as
environmental conditions, climate consideration, traffic, external forces, social
behavior and environmental properties, etc.) can be supported by a simulation
model of performance-based design activating simulation process evaluating
both physical and human behavior before the materialization and final solutions.
Furthermore, the performance-based design model (Fig. 14.4 ) may include
among others the following parameters: environmental performance, financial
cost, spatial, social, cultural, ecological and technological perspectives and may
employ analytical techniques and simulations (P) that can generate a parametric
form-finding schema (G) according to parametric variables to map desired
performance (Fig. 14.10 ). In generation, this would occur primarily in the
Design phase. However, it is also characteristic of the schema modifications
that would occur (or be socially proposed) in the Post-design phase.
