• Experience, knowledge, beliefs and expectations of other individuals who are
valued by this individual; This is part of the incentives provided by the
environment;
• Social norms around the individual and how the individual values these norms;
this is part of the resources and incentives provided by the environment;
• Knowledge and beliefs of the individual: this contains knowledge about similar
or analogous experiences and their values, which come from sources other than
the three points mentioned above.
Aspirations are based on various factors: The primary ones are (Fig. 9.2 ):
• Expectations of the individual and associated factors; this is part of the interest
and attitude of the individual;
• Aspirations of the individual based on her own experience; this is part of her
interest and attitude;
• Aspirations of those who are valued by this individual; this is part of the
incentives from environment;
• Social motives around the individual and how the individual values these
motives; this is part of the incentives provided by the environment;
• Resources and incentives provided by the individual or the environment.
