Osaka International Itami Airport
frequent airport limousine buses between Itami and Kyoto Station (¥1280, 55 minutes).
There are less frequent pick-ups and drop-offs at some of Kyoto's main hotels. The Itami
stop is outside the arrivals hall - buy your ticket from the machine near the bus stop and
ask one of the attendants which stand is for Kyoto. The Kyoto Station stop is in front of
Avanti Department Store .

to/from the city for ¥2300. Call at least two days in
advance to reserve or ask at the information counter in the arrivals hall in Osaka.
You'll find an information counter with English-speaking staff in the main arrivals hall.
There are several luggage delivery services in the arrivals hall if you don't want to carry
your bags to Kyoto.
Central Japan International Airport Centrair
The Meitetsu Tokoname Railroad line connects Centrair with Nagoya Station (¥850, 30
minutes), which connects to the Tōkaidō
shinkansen
line. It is therefore quite convenient
to use Centrair as your gateway to Kyoto.
The
shinkansen
(¥5640, 36 minutes) goes to/from Nagoya Station. You can save around
half the cost by taking regular express trains, but you will need to change trains at least
once and can expect the trip to take about three hours.
Narita & Haneda International Airports
As a rule, it will cost about ¥15,000 and take around five hours to get from Narita to
Kyoto by train. Note that you will have to first take N'EX express train from Narita into
the city and then catch a
shinkansen
from Tokyo Station to Kyoto. It will take about four
hours and cost around ¥14,000 to get from Haneda to Kyoto. Thus, if you're not in a hurry
or have business in Tokyo and it's cheaper to fly via Tokyo, consider this option.
