only hotel at the airport is the excellent Hotel Nikkō Kansai Airport, connected to the main terminal building by a ped-
estrian bridge (you can even bring your luggage trolleys right to your room). The rooms here are in good condition, spa-
cious and comfortable enough for brief stays. Online booking through hotel booking sites can result in much lower rates.

The Ugenta is a superb and stylish inn loc-
ated in the village of Kibune, about 30 minutes north of Kyoto by taxi or train. There are
only two rooms here, one Japanese-style and one Western-style. Both have private
cypress-wood outdoor bathtubs. This would be the perfect place for a secluded getaway or
honeymoon. We've heard reports that the
nakai-sans
(private maids who bring in your
food) can be a little brusque and quick, but we assume that this will improve with time.
The Ugenta offers a free shuttle bus to and from the station.
