ket business hotel is a great place to stay if you want to be downtown: it's on the western
edge of the main shopping and dining district. Some guests have complained about dirty

Right in the middle of the main
shopping district, a short walk from the Shinkyōgoku shopping arcade and Nishiki Mar-
ket, this new business hotel is great for those who want a basic place to sleep and a con-
venient location. The free breakfast and large communal bathroom (rooms also have en
suite bathrooms) are nice touches.

Plunked down right in the middle of
Downtown Kyoto's main shopping district, the Best Western claims one of the most con-
venient locations in Kyoto. It's brand new and off to a good start. Rooms are small but
spotless, with everything you might need, including helpful staff.

There is
a lot to appreciate about this fine little foreigner-friendly ryokan in the northern part of
town: there is a nice little garden; it's entirely nonsmoking; and the rooms are clean and
