Accessing data using Microsoft Excel
While Service Manager comes with OLAP cubes that allow you to gain a deep insight into
the data stored in Service Manager, navigating the cubes and creating reports in Microsoft
Excel can be a bit complicated, especially if the database schema and objects are not
known to the report author.
An alternative approach is to use Microsoft Excel to access the
DWDataMart
database, in-
stead of the OLAP cubes. Using this method, you can import raw data from the Service
Manager Data mart into Microsoft Excel and then use common features, such as PivotT-
ables and PivotCharts, to create ad hoc reports.
