Jadran Thanks to a 2003 renovation, the once shabby Jadran is now a pleasant,
affordable choice just 5 minutes from the city center. Decor in guest rooms and pub-
lic areas has been turned up a notch, and both are reasonably modern, though the
rooms are not exactly spacious. The Jadran's main advantages are its location and easy
access to public transportation.

Slisko The Sli s ko is a solid no-frills hotel in back of the main bus station. Opened
in the mid-1990s, the Sli s ko has just enough amenities to make it comfortable and a
pricing scale to prevent wallet welts. Rooms are furnished in utilitarian modern and
some are small, but all are clean and affordable: Pricing is according to the number of
beds used. The first-floor restaurant is thoughtfully glassed off from the smoky bar.

INEXPENSIVE
Omladinski Hostel The lobby looks like a homeless shelter intake area, and the
scent of insecticide is in the air as you approach reception. However, it's one of the few
bargain accommodations in Zagreb and as such, its off-putting details can be over-
looked. Accommodations range from six-bed, dorm-style rooms to doubles with pri-
vate bathrooms. The only amenities are vending machines in the lobby, but the
Omladinski is 5 minutes from both the city center and the train station.
