precipitate is defined in this paper as crystallomic . It is a cost effective and
materials efficient approach. It requires the systematic collection of raw
crystallization data in a computerized and logical form so that the analy-
sis can always give more insights and more knowledge on how to imple-
ment subsequent trials. If crystallization fails, by plotting a precipitation
diagram, new information can be used to focus further searches for nucle-
ation and metastabile states. This is in contrast to other approaches (Luft
et al ., 2003). Finally, the crystallomic approach is affordable for all labo-
ratories, since it does not require costly instruments. Most importantly,
each molecule being crystallized is treated individually, since it is not
exposed to the same panel of screens.
