Skiing & Snowboarding in the South Island
New Zealand's South Island is an essential southern-hemisphere destination for
snow bunnies, with downhill skiing, cross-country (Nordic) skiing and snow-
boarding all passionately pursued. The South Island ski season is generally June
to October, though it varies considerably from one ski area to another, and can
run as late as November.

Heliskiing on the South Island is big fun (and big money): if you can afford it, spin your rotor blades up to the
high, pristine slopes of Coronet Peak, Cardrona, Mt Hutt, Treble Cone or Mt Potts.
