This pretty
cottage at Barrys Bay (12km from Akaroa) is a blissful place to spend a few days lazing
on the big verandahs or in the hammocks dotting the gardens. The rooms are warmly dec-
orated, and the local environs can be explored by bicycle or kayak. The hostel was for sale
when we visited, so make sure you call ahead.
