Art and craft galleries are a strong spoke in Hoki's wheel, and you could easily spend a
day spinning around the lot. There are plenty of opportunities to meet the artists, and in
some studios you can watch them at work. Be aware that some galleries sell jade imported
from Europe and Asia, as precious local pounamu (greenstone) is not surrendered lightly
by the wilds.
